On Tuesday, April 20, nearly one hundred Greek student leaders and national fraternity and sorority representatives participated in the 2010 Nic/NPC Congressional Visits in order to lobby for the passage of the Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act of 2009 (CHIA) [H.R. 1547/S. 781]. These students and alumni conducted more than 400 meetings throughout the day in both Senate and House offices.

Before this year’s annual Congressional Visits, the bill had 185 cosponsors in the House and 28 cosponsors in the Senate. As a result of all of the hard work of the volunteers, CHIA gained an additional 28 Representatives and an additional Senator as cosponsors.

This year, the NIC and NPC were represented by 96 students representing 40 fraternities and sororities. These dedicated young men and women are students at 77 universities in 39 continental States.

Thanks to all of the hard work and dedication of the students and alumni who made the trip in April! If you are interested in participating in the April 2011 NIC/NPC Congressional Visits, please contact your inter/national headquarters.
